MEETING DESCRIPTION: In light of the new Biden administration and the constant developments in this turbulent region, Richard will give updates on where developments may be going in the region and the impact on the U.S. and the world’s economy and politics. MEET THE SPEAKER: Richard Eason is a Methodist minister’s son who grew up moving around in North Carolina and Tidewater, Virginia as his father moved from church to church. His parents had met in the Navy just after World War II. Richard majored in Archaeology at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and received an M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He later graduated from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport with an M.A. in Security Affairs. He served six years in the U.S. Department of Education before entering the Foreign Service. He was posted to nine countries overseas in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America and worked in civil aviation affairs at the State Department. During his posting to London, he was part of the embassy team who flew up to Lockerbie, Scotland the night of the crash of Pan Am 103 to begin the response. His final State Department job was as Senior Policy Advisor to the Admiral commanding the US 4th Fleet here in Mayport, covering all of Latin America except Mexico. EVERYONE WELCOME ● JOIN US ONLINE!
