But now the Religious Freedom Restoration Act is being misused to deny people access to health care and discriminate against LGBTQ people, women, religious minorities, and the nonreligious. Why would anyone want to use the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to harm others?\ \ MEET THE SPEAKER: Our speaker this month is activist and educator Rabbi Merrill Shapiro. Rabbi Shapiro is Immediate Past President of the Board of Trustees of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He is the founding President of the Atlantic Coast Florida Chapter of AU.\ \ Shapiro is past president of the Flagler County Democratic Club and the Flagler Area Ministerial Association. Currently he serves as President of the St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society. He is a friend and member of the First Coast Freethought Society and authors a column in our newsletter.\ \ Merrill currently resides with his wife, Robyn, in Palm Coast, Florida.
