JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church celebrates its 75th Anniversary October 23 and 24, 2021, with a weekend of activities including fun, food, and entertainment for our community. \ \ On Saturday, October 23, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. there will be three simultaneous activities on campus to which all are welcome!\ • On our ball field, HACAA will sponsor a Home Run Derby featuring all our HACAA coaches and a surprise first batter!\ \ • A Fall Festival with games, inflatables, and food trucks will be held on the front lawn as our gift to the community for 75 years of love and support.\ \ • Reflections and Fellowship will be held in the Chapel, providing a time for you to share your special HAB memories and even enjoy some clips from HAB on Broadway.\ \ Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, known as HAB to the Jacksonville community, began 75 years ago, meeting weekly in the Little Theater in San Marco Square. Later in that same year, a church member bought 14 acres on Hendricks Avenue, then a narrow road not even wide enough for two cars to pass. From those humble beginnings, HAB has grown to a church known in Jacksonville for its community athletic programs, excellent music programs, missions, service to others, and dedication to the interfaith community. Today the stained glass window in the sanctuary, showing Jesus with outstretched arms, invites the community to the doors of HAB where everyone is welcome.\ \ Calling itself "A Place of Grace," HAB believes in service to others. This service takes many forms: The year-round recreation program known as HACAA, helping feed our neighbors through UCOM, participation at the I. M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, HAB's Community Art Gallery, and Community Garden are just a few of the ministries we support.\ \ On Sunday, October 24, we will hold a Campus Open House from 9:00-10:45 a.m., with history and photos of the church family displayed throughout the campus, including a new exhibit in our Art Gallery.
